It’s Friday morning in February. The sun is shining and the weather is surprisingly warm here at Costa Blanca. We head up the main street in our village, Villajoyosa, and rent 2 electrical bicycles. We pass Valor chocolate factory, and the smell of cocoa tickles our noses. A while later we pass the Puig Campana golf course and the slopes are getting steeper. Costa Blanca Cycling Villajoyosa Finestrat
Heading to Finestrat
After 9 km we turn into Finestrat, the small, colorful town at 238 meters altitude and 7000 inhabitants. The view from the church at the highest point of the city is stunning. It is said that you can see all the way to Alicante from here. Cycling Costa Blanca
We roll up and down narrow alleys and streets before stopping at La Barra, a local pub close to a roundabout. After a refreshing glass of wine and Serrano ham, we continue towards Orxeta, 5 hilly kilometers away.
Lunch at restaurant Mundial Costa Blanca Cycling Villajoyosa Finestrat
Orxeta turns out to be a very cozy village. We meet 8 of the 734 inhabitants who live here. On the outskirts of town we find restaurant Mundial, a Lebanese restaurant where we have lunch. The food is lovely, and the guys who work here are really nice. We highly recommend a stop here!
We enjoy the food, the wine and the sun, and after three hours we are heading against Villajoyosa.
With electrical bicycles through beautiful landscapes Costa Blanca Cycling Villajoyosa Finestrat
We are cycling through an adventurous landscape. The mountains are up to 1500 meters high, but green and nice at the top. The electrical bicycles take us off easily, we choose exactly how much power we want to use, and get off quickly. This is a great way to move around in nature, you will not be as tired as you would be without the power. And the landscape within the coast of the Costa Blanca is stunning.
